I've found stubborn "tuft algae" to die off very readily if you squirt
Seachem's "Excel" directly on the affected area. Of course, you must keep in mind
that you don't want to over treat your tank with Excel, so just do it
sparingly. A little squirted directly on the algae infested area every other day
or so should do it.

With regard to fish and the stuff--I've found Dwarf Gourami's, of all fish,
are wild for it! At least mine were...
