I have been growing and distributing this plant for over 5 years. For me, it has always grown slowly and very compact. I have shared cuttings with people who's tanks offer much richer growing conditions (well stocked discus, CO2 enriched). We have noticed that the leaf size and internode distance varies to a great degree with nutrient balance. In your tank conditions, I would hazard a guess that, if you had classic H. corombosa alongside your 'compacta' you would soon notice substantially larger internode distances and faster growth rates in the 'classic' stems.
