Hi, everyone,
It's time to renew our ad in AFM. (Actually,
we're overdue, and the ad hasn't appeared for the last issue or two.) If
we renew for a year, we'll get 14 months instead of just a year, and the rate is
$.70 per word.
The ad currently reads as follows:
AQUATIC GARDENERS ASSOCIATION. Dues $15 per
year (USA, Canada, Mexico), $28 all other countries. For a sample copy of
the quarterly journal, The Aquatic Gardener, please remit $3
(USA, Canada, Mexico), $5 elsewhere to Mary McCaw, Editor, 6 Lincoln Road,
Wellesley, MA 02481. For more information contact Jack O'Leary, 71 Ring
Road, Plympton, MA 02367. Website: www.aquatic-gardeners.org
I would like to change the ad somewhat because
people find it confusing insofar as they send me their $15 dues as well as
Jack. I would also prefer not to have to send out sample issues. We
don't get that many requests, and it's a pain in the neck. Frankly, I
think $15 isn't that much money, and people would be more likely to spend the
$15 and not renew if they didn't like the magazine, or they would check out our
web site first, and look over the current issue. But, if you all think it
is worhwhile, I will continue to send out the sample issues.
Anyway, assuming we want to keep sending out sample
issues, here is the way I would like the ad to read:
AQUATIC GARDENERS ASSOCIATION. Dues $15 per
year (USA, Canada, Mexico), $28 (other countries). To join or for more
information, contact Jack O'Leary, 71 Ring Road, Plympton, MA 024367. For
a sample copy of the quarterly journal, The Aquatic Gardener, send $3
(USA, Canada, Mexico), $5 elsewhere to Mary McCaw, 6 Lincoln Road,
Wellesley, MA 02481. Website: www.aquatic-gardeners.org
If we choose to continue the sample issue portion
of the ad, the cost of the ad would be $38.50 per month and $462.00 per
year. If we omit it, the cost would be 19.60 per month and $235.00 for the
year. (As noted above, we would actually be getting 14 months. Also,
they don't count our web site; they throw that in for free if we renew for
a year, and they also throw in free mention of us on their web
site.
As you may recall, we get free ads in TFH and
FAMA. I would like to change them as well to end the confusion as to whom
to send the dues.
As far as the sample issue is concerned, we can end
the sample offer entirely, save it in FAMA and TFH since the ad is free and
omit it in AFM, or we can retain it in all three.
Let me know what you decide.
Mary
