It was Dave who brought the idea of periodical rate up.  The BIG difference
is that he was handling everything for PAM, so had all the records in one
place, and under his control.  And, of course, PAM was clearly a
subscription based magazine, so there was no need to try to figure out what
part of "dues" went to the magazine, and separate out that bookkeeping.

I'm hoping David will chime in soon, because I think his piece would be the
biggest headache.
