Hi Erik, You are correct about how it stands here. No one jumped up and said "I'll do it!", though no one was opposed to the idea either. If we had a strong leader for the project, I'm sure people would rally to the cause. But I'm still reluctant to be that rallying person. I feel like it is best for AGA that TAG get my full attention during the time I have for doing AGA stuff. I don't love the idea of Texas again, but they group does sound really enthusiastic, and right there, it means we have a built-in core of attendees that probably have NOT gone to an AGA convention before. It also means that all-important crew of local workers that were missing in Houston. I also don't have a big problem with working out a cost/profit sharing arrangement. It just has to be reasonably fair to both groups, not so complicated that it's hard to figure out after the fact, and it MUST have checks and balances so that a local club can't get us in a huge financial hole. (as happened with MACNA) I suggested the silent auction for us, and the general auction for them idea, just because it was simple and cut-and-dried. It also made it do-able for clubs who were cash-poor but enthusiastic. I guess my bottom line response is that Dallas wouldn't be my first choice, but if it's our only choice, I wouldn't object. Id rather give it to them than say we won't do a convention this year just because I'd rather not go back to Texas two years in a row. I'm hoping that David and I can whip up enthusiasm at the open house at my huse next month, but that's way too long to hold Dallas off. David and I could try to get them to commit to submitting a bid for 2004 if we want to just let Dallas have it.
