Here's my take: > Here's a list of current Life subscriptions: > > Greg Morin Seachem Laboratories Inc. Stone Mountain GA - indefinite, certainly for now > Christel Kasselmann 14513 Teltow Germany - Permanent > Prof Dr Neils Jacobsen Royal Vet and Agric. University Denmark - Permanent > Karen Brown Center for Aquatic Plants IFAS, U of F Gainsville FL - Permanent - that's an exchange... they send me theirs so I can use it for reprint material... we've just been doing so well with new material that there has been no need. > Petra van Schaik Intermediate Publishers Netherlands - Don't know this person at all, though the name sounds like I SHOULD remember who he is. > Kaspar Horst Dupla Aquaristik Germany - Permanent, though since he's elderly, I don't know how permanent it will be. (he's fine now, though) > Claus Christensen DK-8520 Lystrup N Denmark - Permanent > International Aroid Society South Miami FL - Don't know. If they're still interested, I'd do it as a courtesy, but most Aroids aren't aquatic > Takashi Amano 4416 Makikou, Makimachi Niigata Japan - Advertiser > Jack O'Leary Plympton MA - He's done enough, I'd certainly keep him on the list (even tho he's not membership any more, he still does the NEC booth each year) > Dorothy Reimer London ON Canada - Obviously > Erik D Olson Seattle WA - without a doubt > David A Lass Nahant MA - hey, he's the money man > Lee Finley Pascoag RI - Good friend of the AGA, I say leave him on > Karen A Randall Holliston MA - I'll take one even if you don't send one, but I like to keep track of mail tiems that way > Diana L Walstad Chapel Hill NC - Yes > Neil H Frank Raleigh NC - permanent > Paul Krombholz Madison MS - probably s/b permanent; though he hasn't done a lot lately, he has in the past. > Roger Lhoest B - 4431 Loncin BELGIUM - no idea who this is > Cheryl Rogers Oak Point TX - Yes, because if she's not on the list, Scott gets stuck with all the back issues > Michael Eckardt New Hamburg ON CANADA - Yes! (one of my translators, a VIP) > Tropica Aquarium Plants DK-8250 Egaa Denmark - advertiser > Nozomi Hayakawa Aqua Design Amano Niigata JAPAN - advertiser, but I hope we're not paying to send this separately... Our overseas mailing costs are too high when we're already sending to the same place! > > Scott, you're not on here because you still have 8 issues left!- Hey, look at all the PAM's he has...surely more than 8 of 'em! > > Likewise, Michael Hellweg has 5 issues left. - He'll probably resubscribe on his own. If he doesn't and he writes more articles we can extend it, but I don't think it needs to be permanent. His "job" really never materialized. (not entirely his fault, tho) > > When Charlene's membership came up for renewal earlier this year, and > she did not respond to the first reminder e-mail, I quietly gave her 4 > more issues without saying nuthin' to nobody. I felt sorry about all the > trouble and thought it might be better just to be a quiet presence in > her mailbox for a while. Hope I'm not in trouble. (you sure are (not)<g>) - I would DEFINITELY add Charlene to the "indefinite" list. She has done a HUGE amount for the AGA, even if she didn't always do it the way it might have worked best. She is also one of the few public aquatic horticulturalists in the country. What about Peter Bradley? While he's a little odd, and can't write, he has been a very enthusiastic supporter of AGA, and regularly sends me articles. I haven't used many, because, frankly, I usually have better material. But if effort counts for anything, he should probably be on the list. I am on a couple of mailing lists on a complimentary basis. What some of them do is send out a postcard annually, just checking in to see if I'm still interested. If so, I just check a box and mail it back. If not, they drop you from the list. This seems like a good compromise. Input from anyone else? Karen ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
