Welcome back, Cheryl and David. --- Cheryl Rogers <cheryl@wilstream.com> wrote: > . . . I thought having both a silent and a live auction > at the > same time was > confusing. But it seemed to allow us to move twice as many items in about the same amount of time. However, the Live auction brought in twice as much money in that time even though an awful lot of some really nice specimens were inthe Silent. I know the Live went on for quite a while after the Silent ended but I think most of the buyers were gone by then except the real bargain hunters and we didn't make much per item in that last hour. So doing it all quickly is important. Maybe we can make it less confusing. Part of the problem in Dallas is that there was absolutely no procedure for conducting the Silent Auction nor to handle the money from the Silent Auction until about 20-30 minutes after it started! IT would have been better to have a process established ahead of time (duh). And then to have it printed up so folks could read it understand how things were going to work. Heck, it would have helped to have something written up for the folks the jumped in to do the Silent. We just made it up as we went along. By the third round or so, I think the Silent folks had the thing down pretty well. > I see nothing in the budget about mailing registration > flyers to AGA > members, only to pet shops. PPS: Since you weren't here, you apparently volunteered for about 35 AGA2K4 commmittees. ===== S. Hieber __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Find out what made the Top Yahoo!
