Welcome back, Cheryl and David. Maybe we can make it less confusing. Part of the problem in Dallas is that there was absolutely no procedure for conducting the Silent Auction nor to handle the money from the Silent Auction until about 20-30 minutes after it started! IT would have been better to have a process established ahead of time (duh). And then to have it printed up so folks could read it understand how things were going to work. Heck, it would have helped to have something written up for the folks the jumped in to do the Silent. We just made it up as we went along.
Well, yes. I *begged* repeatedly for more information on how that was going to work so I could explain it in the literature. They didn't even have a coordinator for the LIVE auction until the meeting before the convention. To my knowledge, Larry *was* the Auction committee and he was overwhelmed.
By the third round or so, I think the Silent folks had the thing down pretty well.
Yes, by then, I understood it too. :-)
I see nothing in the budget about mailing registrationflyers to AGA members, only to pet shops. Their call, but based on the number of people who prefer to mail me a check rather than pay online for membership, I think this is a mistake.I've mentioned this to them several times. They think what they have for marketing will cover mailings.
Humph. Unless they have a volunteer to layout and print for free (I'm rolling off my chair laughing here) then they are dead wrong.
Don't tell *anyone* in GWAPA that you can do layout and printing!
Me? I'm just a innocent bystander. Surely someone over there has a d@mn computer and knows how to work the CapsLock key.
PS: Hope you found your mail in order.
Yes, thank you.
PPS: Since you weren't here, you apparently volunteered for about 35 AGA2K4 commmittees.
