Re: GWAPA Proposal -- AGA2K4 -- 1-4-2004 (fwd)

They can definitely have space in each TAG, but two whole pages is too much
for us to give up, and the center spread is ONLY available if a advertiser
doesn't pay for it. There is no real reason to to use the center spread
anyway. Amprint has always done an excellent job matching pages, hopefully
the new printer will do as well.

More importantly, though, I think we would be doing a disservice to our
members by dedicating that many pages to advertising instead of content. I
think we had very nice one-page ads for the Dallas convention, and don't see
the need to extend it to two. As exciting as the convention is, the fact
remains that the majority of our members cannot or will not attend for one
reason or another. TAG has a job to do meeting their needs in other ways.

I do think it makes perfect sense to see what the additional cost would be
to print fliers to be included in the envelope with TAG. These could
contain as much information as the committee wanted, and not interfere with
editorial content. It would also be a way of getting a registration form in
there without asking people to tear pages out of their magazine. I think
it's up to the BOD whether AGA would want to absorb the extra cost for this
in terms of printing and mailing costs, (considering that our TAG costs are
going down considerably) or whether they want the convention to pay the
difference. I just want to make sure that this doesn't become part of the
"regular" TAG budget. I don't think that would be fair to the 700-odd
members who don't participate in the conference.
