> They are planning on no mailers except what they can get in > TAG. Why pay postage twice is the thinking. Well, I don't know if that is good reasoning. 1. You need to give people a LOT of information, and not everyone has Internet access to get to the web site. While there's no problem running an ad in TAG, as I said, I don't think we can afford dilute TAG by too many pages. We barely have enough as it is. People expect content in TAG. 2. Timing of TAG is not optimal for the convention. The next issue should go out mid-February, assuming we stay on schedule with the change in printers. That one we will only (if we're lucky) get an announcement into. 17-2 would be due out mid-May, and 17-3, mid-Aug. I'm guessing you'd get the best response from a mid September mailing. 3. There will be many people who flip through TAG and put it aside without even noticing a convention ad. If it goes out separate, they will KNOW it's something different and important. I know EVERYONE in NEC is waiting for their convention registration flier to arrive in the mail in late January. > How much do inserts/stuffers cost? Heck, I don't know what TAG is going to cost us at this point, or even the name of the printer. I don't think Cheryl has nailed down a mailing company yet either. I don't think either of us had any idea that any convention decisions hung on our printer decisions... The two were totally separate last year. Someone will have to find out: 1. Whether this printer does that type of stuff and can do it cost effectively 2. Whether the mailing center (when identified) will insert fliers (I suspect they will) 3. How much it will cost to get them to do this 4. How much extra postage we need to pay It seems to me, that AGA shouldn't carry the burden of these costs alone, but that it should be part of the convention budget. (which, I think, was Cheryl's point from the start) Karen ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
