[AGA SC] That Darn Marriot -- We were this close when. . .

Just when I saw light at the end of the tunnel, I heard a
train whistle up ahead:

Turns out that the Marriot says it can't do anything for us
on the meal price and that $38.95 meal price isn't a
Banquet price, it's the menu price minimum -- the price for
a dinner is higher (up to $58 plus 20% service fee plus
8.5% tax) if someone orders something else. (Who wants to
volunteer to take order and track who owes how much or is
supposed to get which dinner?)

There are two buffets that can be ordered for a single
price per dinner but the price is $51 or $53 plus 20%
service charge plus 8.5% tax -- price denpending on which
of two buffets are selected.

Do these events ever occur *without* banquets? "You all go
out and find a place to eat, then we'll meet back at the
ballroom at 8:00 p.m. for Amano's talk and the Contest
awards."
