Re: [AGA SC] T-shirts

Yes, they were only sold at conventions, because no one wanted to deal with
mail-order. (remember, this was even pre-website) Basically, Dorothy and I
took them with us when we went places.<g>

You DON'T get a great deal on good quality T's when you buy small numbers...
I know because I was the one who dealt with the whole thing. At the time we
did those, the only good quality way of doing shirts was silk screening,
each color cost more, (separate screen) and the process was quite limiting
in terms of design because you have to use just one color at a time.

I think there are better quality computer generated techniques for image
reproduction now... In those days, the "decal" type transfers didn't last
well at all, which is why we went with silk screening. Those HAVE heald up
well... every time I see one at a convention, even now, they look great.

I'm happy to do a design. My hand is in working shape again so that's no
problem. I think it would be fun to do a new design every year, for each
convention. Then people have to buy more than one ;-) (for the NEC
convention, you actually order your shirt with your convention registration)

BUT (you knew that was coming, right?<g>) I DON'T want to handle chasing
around to find the best deal, manage the printing of the shirts or (heaven
forbid!!!) handle distribution. I've made this offer before, but this is
where the conversation usually stops, when that elusive person, "Somebody",
fails to turn up.<g>

As far as somebody who currently does specifically aquatic hobby shirts, I
don't know of any such beast... do you, Scott? Most of the clubs I know do
it pretty much independently.

That's why this ready-made solution appealed to me. Not that it will make
us a lot of money... clearly it won't. But it gives people the opportunity
to buy a shirt or other piece of apparel (some of us don't do T-shirts) and
share in a little camraderie. It also gets our name out in public.
