Absolutely. I did jsut that. None of us are happy with the prices -- we didn't have any price info when we more or less focused on the host and if I had known I might urged for another venue despite GWPA's eagerness. While the Sheraton deal might be retrieved, that hotel and that deal still has its own drawbacks, including that, with less rooms in the hotel, we are more likely to be limited on the upside; the vendor area is separated from the convention activity area; each of us that's dealt with the Sheraton staff have been unimpressed with their ability to do things a hotel ought to be able to do -- conference calls, computer breakdowns, forgotten clauses in contracts; no one on site, apparently, that can make approve a deal. We could try with the full price on the Banq, but I believe it will depress demand and you end up without a lot of savings and a lot less people at the Banq. I favor more people even with less savings -- hey, when I convert, I convert ;-) . The spreadsheet I sent last weekend factored in reduced demand for higher Banq costs; computed the estimated results for three Registration price schemes: $49 for the fisrt 50 and $59 thereafter; $45 for the first 50 and %45 thereafter; and a flat $49. For each price scheme I computed four Banq prices to the customers but always at $50 to AGA2K4: $35; $40; $45; and $50. Correcting the $40 Banq to $39, it looks like the attached sheet. The key results are highlighted in yellow. I think folks are more likely to pay $60 for the Reg than more than $40 for the Banq even if the total works out about $100 either way. The proposed pricing works out to $98 except the first 50, which is $10 less. (The main reason for the early purchase discount rate is that speed at which the first 50 comes can be taken as a barometer of total demand.) But we saw last year that most folks are hesitant to register early. The hotel rooms will cost more but the total is the same as last year -- actually a buck less. The breakeven is still below 100 paid registrants. Still to be worked out is how to lock up Ray's stuff and how to mitigate the parking charge (pool?) and a million other things, of course. Note that total attendance has a much bigger effect on results than whether what we charge for the Banq. sh --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote: > > Folks, I am not comfortable with the AGA "eating" the > extra $10, > effectively reducing the registration to $40.
