Re: [AGA-sc] [Fwd: AGA/sfbaaps cooperation]

Does Mike have an interest in helping out more? I'm not sure he does. I got the impression when talking to Mike that he was kinda apologetic for not being more involved.

I don't think it's necessarily a good thing to offer board positions just because someone's been around for a while. We need people on the board who would be the nerve center of the AGA.

Larry, on the other hand, though even less officially tied to AGA management, has been invaluable in the last convention, and has volunteered help on the current one (which he didn't have any vested interested other than as an AGA member).

Just my observations. If we had the "regional club reps" -- free or otherwise -- involved in the MC, and shifted our main discussions there, this might improve participation and decision-making without having to expand the board too much.

I think it would be cool to recruit Larry for my job, he would be very good for it, a great role for him.

As for Mike, I think we should offer him a position as well. Solid club member, very informative, nice, polite.

Diana...I would say no way, too loose of a cannon.

Of course what say should I have, I am not on the board. ;)

Thanks for including me!

Take care,
Kathy

Oh, and on the subject of Larry on the BOD, I don;t know him very well, but
have heard very little about him that wasn't positive. Would he take on
Kathy's "job" of managing advertisers? If so, I would have no reservations
about adding him to the BOD. If not, I still have no objections to Larry
per se, but have a bit of concern that we've never asked Mike Hellweg. He's
a really nice guy, very reasoned and reasonable, and I think would like to
be more involved than he has been in his "bit part" as historian. Just a
thought that I wanted to run past you all.

I have previously indicated to Scott personally my approval of Larry on the BOD. But if Mike has been around longer, and desires a more active role, then bypassing him would indeed seem rude.

Re: Diana, she has recently indicated a desire to participate less. I see this as a justified reason to bypass her.
