Dear Karen & Cheryl,
I am writing to you on behalf of the International Water Lily & Water Gardening Society (IWGS).  I am the current President of this group, and have received a communication from one of our life members who also belongs to your group.  Mr. Robert Steinbach of Elgin, IL contacted us to say that the Aquatic Gardeners Assoc. was not planning to hold an annual meeting / symposium this year.  He felt that if the IWGS was amenable to inviting the Aquatic Gardeners to join us for our annual symposium in Florida it would be a good fit between the two organizations due to their common interests.  This possibility was discussed yesterday on our quarterly Board of Directors conference call.  Our board of directors felt that this was a good idea and instructed me to initiate contact with your group.  Bob Steinbach gave me your emails as an initial point of contact.  The executive director for our group, Paula Biles, is also the symposium coordinator for this year. 
 
We are in the final stages of getting our registration and program information finalized so that it can be mailed to our members by the end of February.  I feel that our tours and programs will be of as much interest to your group as it is to ours.   I will ask Paula to email that information to you.  The dates for the symposium are July 19 thru July 25.  We will be starting in Ft. Lauderdale and visiting various locations as we make our way to Orlando for our educational day on July 23rd.  Monday, July 24 and Tues the 25th will involve travel from our Orlando hotel to surrounding points of interest.  Our annual general meeting, auction, and banquet will be held on Sunday the 23rd.  It may be possible to have a room available for your group's business meeting or whatever you would like.  Our board of directors will be meeting for a full day on July 19th in Ft. Lauderdale.  You may want to consider having your business meeting coincide with our board meeting day.
 
I would ask that you forward this information to your board of directors so that we might start a dialogue to see if this alliance would be of interest to the Aquatic Gardeners Association.  We are on a fast track to get the symposium info and registration out to our members at this point.  I would like to be able to include the information about the Aquatic Gardeners in the info to be mailed,  if we can get together on this.  Please feel free to contact either Paula Biles or myself with any questions and concerns.
