Hi folks, In the absence of an auction volunteer (other than Gomberg...we don't want to go down that road, I think, but it's OK to have accepted his offer of stuff collector?), I have a backup plan. I have a system that we've been using in Seattle for six years and I'm very familiar with. The folks who've run the computers in our auctions (including a 10-year-old) found it pretty easy to deal with. The Seattle club does their auctions a little differently, but I have adapted the forms for use in "everywhere-but-Seattle" auctions, as well as the AGA silent auction! I put up mockups for your perusal and have a couple questions on them... http://test.thekrib.com/livetest.pdf http://test.thekrib.com/silenttest.pdf 1. What's the deal with the 2-part carbonless forms I see all the time? Is there a reason that the bidder needs a copy of each transaction? They have the item. I'd like to avoid this and have a SINGLE receipt that goes right to the computer people and in the "paper trail" bin/spindle/folder. If absolutely necessary, I could print the first form on 2-part carbonless laser paper, but that's expensive, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. 1a. We've not given out receipts in the silent auction, right? That would seem to bolster the lack of need for live auction receipts too. If it helps, my "system" does create itemized printouts when a person checks out. 2. What's the max number of bids to put on the silent auction forms? I put 12 on the sample I did here. Will that cover the 90% case (and they just continue on the back or other sheets in the high-profile items)? Or should I do 3-per-page with 20 lines, or 2-per-page and put 30 lines instead? Thanks for any insight here! - Erik PS: My plan is to bring "the system" with me to San Jose, keep it with LaFlamme until November. If someone else comes forward, cool, we'll use their system, but otherwise we'll have a decent backup. -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ AGA-sc mailing list AGA-sc@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-sc
