I already have the pre-printed tags for the items, both donations and
split items. Each has a unique number, but I suspect we won't have all
the donations tagged before the auction (some may get tagged by the runner
as they bring it to the auctioneer). I don't think we'll want to have a
second number printed on the bag. I like your latter idea much better.
Take the bag and $2 to the cashier/runner.

I have kinda offered to do that too. At least I think I will need to
train the volunteers who might not be used to the system I am bringing.
For instance, that whole numbering thing. The only difference between
live auction items and silent auction items is *which tag* we tape on the
bag.

Was there any particular scheme to deciding which items went silent and
which went live? That'd be good to know when we're bagging them.

There will be people offering to be runners. Always are.

My list is like this: 2 auctioneers (trade off hourly or so), 1-4
computer ops (more so early on when they have to check in sellers .. later
turns into one op recording bids, another acting as checkout cashier),
silent auction wrangler or two.
