I think one could reasonably say that anything we did for AGA as a whole should essentially be a benefit to the members.  We could even hold the whole $1,800 toward bring in an extra, spiffy speaker for the next convention.  I don't really care that much, so I'll let those who do decide.<g>

Here we have a very distinct amount, a precise value because Larry negotiated with the hotel to arrive at a distinct figure -- that's the essence liquidated damages, a specific amount of money (the liquidity) agreed to as full rememdy for damage that cannot be easily valuated or remedied by specific performance.
 
It's reasonably clear who was harmed. So, it's a matter of moving the value of the remedy to those harmed, which I guess is where we're at.
