Hello Bill Sounds like your pet shop has in either just a yellow form of Cacatuoides or the so called Orange Flash color form. At one inch in length, both these forms can be hard to sex. I've always been able to use a method of sexing them that's pretty reliable. Females have black pelvic fins and males should not. Although I've seen males with black pelvic fins. Not as dark as in a female though. If the fish are truly one inch standard length instead of total length, you should be able to distinguish the dorsal spikes in the first 3 dorsal rays in male fish. Females won't have this. These are the best ways I've been able to use to determine sex in Cacatuoides. Of course I only keep the double red form, which this method is easier to use on. Good luck.
