Re: mixed species tank

Hi John
I've had fair luck with mixed apistos and other fish in the same tank, and I
think the trick is not giving them the room to form territories, like many
African cichlid keepers do (or don't). I've never done it with cruzi, but
aggies, 'rio mamore', viejita, juruensis, hongsloi, come to mind, along with
Dicrossus maculatus, Taeniacara candidi, tetras, killis, and corys.

If there are enough fish in the tank so that they can't stake claim and
defend an area, they don't seem to be nearly so aggressive. It makes it a
little more difficult to keep the water pristine, but at least they don't
kill each other.

Although, the pie-plate discus tank sounds pretty nice, too.

Take Care
Don
