| John,   Yes, it is a reliable trait to differentiate the sexes.  These fish
have slightly triangular tails and look for a small white streak on the dorsal
and ventral edges of the tail corners...they are the females.  I see the
wild green forms regularly...I always go back to this species and Keyholes every
few years.    Vinny
Hello Vinny Is this really a reliable trait for sexing
them??  A local pet shop had
about 8 really nice 2 inchers and i could
  not tell the difference sex
wise for the life of me and i've always wanted
  to try these guys.   Now
when you say both forms, i have never
ever seen the green form in a shop
anywhere, do they ever get around or are
  they really an oddball lucky
catch if you do see them?

 John
