Mike and Rich,
Apisto sp. "Glaser" is being used by a few Peruvian exporters for A. sp.
"Maulbruter". Does the female look like a female A. nijjseni? And, does the
male look somewhat similar to A. norberti?
Last year we collected two populations, one of which had the black spots.
These spots are not part of the normal coloration but instead a parasite
that will do no harm to the fish.
