Mike,

I'm a bit late on this (had a week of for spring break), but didn't see any
response to you question. Juvenile males of most apistos will have some black on
their pectorals. This will eventually fade out. I've always had problems with
young panduros. Personally, I'd wait until the male colors show just to be sure.
