Dave, I wouldn't recommend them together. Once the aggies start breeding the checkerboards would suffer. If you can't have another 20L how about a 10 for the checkerboards. Another possibility would be a plastic partition. Give the aggies about 2/3 of the tank and the checkerboards the other 1/3.
