John, were the eaten spawns wigglers or eggs? My pair of viejitas got a batch to the wiggling stage, and then they disappeared. She has spawned once since then, but the eggs didn't hatch. I was really disappointed with losing the wigglers. Maybe I should have moved the male and/or the female, or removed the wigglers. I just don't know. I am one who likes to observe the parental care of apistos, (that's why I got into the hobby in the first place). Any suggestions out there for remedies? I don't really have the tank space to move the fry, so I guess moving the Dad will be what I try next. On a more positive note, I came home this evening to find free swimming algodon I fry. I can't believe it! I have been so busy I hadn't fed these fish live food for a couple of weeks or done much to alter my tap water (read soften/lower pH) for them during water changes. Go figure! When I try my hardest to get my fish to spawn, they don't. When I do nothing special for them, they do. Oh well, I'm not complaining too much. Sorry for rambling.
