Hi Yvan,
Aquatic gardeners use those to fertilize the roots of their plants.
They are common household plant fertilizers.The Aquatic gardeners mainly use the fern and palm spikes.They are sold in hardware stores like home cheapo and in garden centers.I use tetra liquid plant fertilizer in combination with a seachem spike(forgot the name).I haven't tried the Jobes spikes yet .
