Tomoko, Personally, I will remove fry as soon as the mother starts herding them around ( basically as soon as they come out of the spawning cave). If you wait too long it's very hard to catch them, as you are experiencing. I use a piece of airline tubing to siphon them into a container that already has some water from their tank. After which I will place them in a 5 GL tank. I use a 5 GAL tank to make sure they see the food ( BBS) and eat well. As they grow I move them into bigger tanks..usually a 20 - 30 GAL grow out tanks, depending on the size of the spawn. Oak leave will help hide the fry..but don't worry..the little guys are very resourceful. good luck sal ----- Original Message ----- From: Tomoko Schum <tomokoschum@earthlink.net> To: <apisto@listbox.com> Sent: Friday, May 11, 2001 9:41 AM Subject: Need help on the timing to rescue fry > Hi all, > > I need an advice for the proper timing for > separating fry from their parents and for the > method to get the fry out. > > I'm afraid that I waited too long to rescue the > current batch of borellii fry (my very first > spawn/2 weeks old) before parents spawned again. > I tried to rescue the remaining fry (I could only > see two this morning) but they are too fast to > catch.
