Thanks for the response Mike. As far as the black markings on these fish,
the lateral band is present in both and extends from the upper lip
(preorbital) to the caudal peduncle. No caudal spot is present. The
characteristic diagonal stripe from the pectoral insertion to the anus has
only been seen on the fish with a colorless tail and not very often.
Yes these two forms were collected in the same location. The red tailed form
was the less common.
