Arthit, A. sp. Mouthbrooder is also known as A. sp. Breast-band. This unusual fish appears to have a mix of cacatuoides, atahualpa, & Breitbinden features. It is a "larvophile mouthbrooder". This means that the female carries the fry only while they are larvae (only after they hatch, but before they can swim). Spawns are usually small. They require very soft, acid, water conditions for successful breeding. See the bottom photo of a male at: http://www.apistogrammaidiots.com/Fishstore/fishstore.html. This photo doesn't show the blue-green flanks very well, which the males have. The bottom photo at: http://www.apistogrammaidiots.com/Apistogramma-Idiots/apistogramma-idiots.html shows a female with the characteristic breast band that makes it look very much like some female A. panduro. hope this helps, Mike Wise Arthit Prasartkul wrote: > I wonder what is Apistogramma sp. "mouthbrooder"? I have seen in on the list from the German fish export which I am about to make an order. Could anyone please tell me, any pics will be greatly appreciated? Are they really mouth-brood their eggs and youngs? Wow...it would be such a cool apisto! > > Arthit > Bangkok, Thailand > -- > > _______________________________________________ > Get free e-mail @thailand.com and more.
