Talking of the quality and fragility of the
Microgeophagus rams, if anyone knows someone in the UK who is breeding high
quality stock it would be great to hear from them. I had a great pair for 2
years, but the male turned on the female, and everything I have seen since isn't
up to scratch.

the water down to 5.0-5.5??

SeaChem Acid buffer. It's phosphate free so it doesn't cause algae
blooms. It goes away though, so you have to monitor the pH frequently
and add more buffer all the time.
