sand revisited

Hello,


I know this was discussed recently but I accidentally deleted all my email 
messages.

Anyway, is it suitable to use a medium grain sand that is bought from a 
place like home depot? Do i just wash it thoroughly?

I would buy sand from an aquarium store, even the one I work at, but it is 
like 45 dollars for 50lbs. Where as sand at home depot is less then 5 
dollars for 50lbs. What is the difference?
