Re: maulbruter spawn

Hi Guys,
Yes, those eggs were bright cherry red.
I did see wigglers .
The female carried them in her mouth for a day or two.
She dug quite a few hollows near plant roots to hide the wigglers in when she wanted to eat.
I keep my pair in a 10g with sand substrate( which I think is important for this species, they love to dig for food and hide their youngens in the sand) ,the usual hiding spots and some plant cover.Unfortunately, I didn't get any free swimming fry yet.It seems that my pair spawns regulary every two weeks after Wc's with pure R/O water.I 'll try to move the male after the next spawn,if this doesn't work I 'll steal the eggs next.Or move Murphy, our cat, out of the room:).She loves to watch my lower level tanks in the evening.I took some more pictures of the male this weekend and post them soon.
TDS 40ppm
Temperature around 78 Deg.F
Ph 7.0

Fraid I can't help you either John. I never saw the
eggs either. she always lays them in a corner behind a
piece of driftwood. She's guarding now, so she will
probably be carrying in the next couple of days.
However, i beleive Max took some snaps of his female
guarding and the eggs were red. Have a look here:
