Re: egg color

Teresa,

Like Jerry says, egg color in most apisto species is based in part on what they
eat. They don't have to be red to be fertile. I've had spawns from female
apistos (agassizii, hippolytae, sp. Rotwangen, pink eunotus (Shahuaya) to name
a few) who laid white eggs that resulted in 100+ fry. Most of their diet had
been flakes, pellets, a some brine shrimp (frozen). I don't worry about egg
color. Fuzzy eggs, now that is a different story.
