Males look much like females as juveniles. Females generally do not have
metallic blue on their face while male do. Females rarely reach 2"/5cm in this
species. So if I ever find a large female with blue on the face, I am very
suspicious. It is almost always a large juvenile male. It looks like that is
what happened to you.
