Mr. Soares says....."...Payaminonus comes from Ecuador which does not permit the export of ornamental fish..." Just a note of my own!!! From the Romer Book pg. 666 (......sign of the devil.....;-) )........."...a village at the confluence of the Rio Tutapishcu and the Rio Payaminonis, the Rio Napo System......" This is to indicate that the A. payaminonis comes from this area. Julio Melgar has several types of fish from the Rio Napo System. Of the fish from this Rio Napo System is the fish that I have. This fish is POSSIBLY A. payaminonis......at worse Julio said to call it sp.Payaminonis or sp. affin payaminonis.........................Repeat.......Julio is getting fish from the Rio Napo system and according to Romer himself the a. payaminonis is from there......you folks decide............................................... Those of you who REALLY know me know I am not trying to hide anything from anyone. I have had these fish for 3-4 weeks. I waited this long to get a reasonable ID on these fish. I won't drag the people into this discussion but I went to some very apt people for ID and as usual without the fish in hand it is terribly difficult. The picture in the Romer book on page 667 is virtually exact to what I am calling the "Dominate" form of the males......look at the pic of the female on pg 671.......imagine the fish in the pic being colored YELLOW and the body spot dark.......it is exactly what these fish are......look at the video. The fish on pg 669 the nijsseni looking fish with the caudal color.....look at the video. There are some subtle differences but books and books and books.....................I have been around for a long time too and know that books are off some time...........but there was no attempt to deceive anyone! That's why I put on A. sp payaminonis on the video......if A. sp affin. payaminonis is better then so be it.......but let's not say it can't be an A. payaminonis because Romers book itself says it came from the Rio Napo System. This fish carries a caudal that is round and the black/red coloration does not go completely around. The dorsal extensions on the males are EXACTLY what they look like on pg 667 of Romer. Some of these fish look very close to nijsseni in subdominant colors which is odd because usually the more colorful males are the dominate ones...........I think! Thanks for listening...........................let's have discussions and trust each other rather than throwing accusations. I am willing to accept if this fish is A. sp payaminonis but let's talk it over rather than "It isn't..." because......................... Thanks all.................Have a super day everyone...............
