Re: post partem depression

Hi Matt. Sorry to hear about your hognei not breeding.
However to take heart in the fact that you have a
group of babies growing out. Though humans would have
"feelings" about their babies the fish in question are
probably experiencing a diffrent thing. There are many
possablities and im sure youll get about 100 diffrent
perspectives on this from our list members. The first
thing I owul dlook at is the age of the fish. As a
female get older her willingness to spawn becomes
reduced. Also leaving a female with fry a long time
has in my experienc3e been detremental to her health.
So I wouldnt leave her with fry longer then a month. I
usually go about 2-3 weeks. the next thing id look at
is temp, feeding, etc has anything changed? is the
water the same? My experience with apistos is that
they will spawn as much as they can given that the
conditions are correct. The last thing id look at is
water quality are you givingthem a good wate change
schedule? Apistos need this along with plenty of high
quality food to breed. There are no tricks here just
simple common sense stuff we need to look at. Give me
as much information about what your doing and ill see
if i can help ya put good luck. BTW thats a very
pretty fih oldermales get such fantastic finnage.
