RE: unknown aggies

I am in agreement with Mike the next nice strain of Aggies should be named
the "Jones" strain.

Rory brings up a question that I think is important for everyone to answer
for themselves. There is a strain of Aggies in the apisto hobby that is
well accepted. The Huser strain of aggies. the picture is in the Aqualog in
the aggie section...........NICE FISH..........someone set that strain! I
assume is was a fellow named Huser. I have no idea if he simply set an
individual strain or made a cross to produce the strain but it is a very
beautiful strain and produces .....as far as I have fooled with
them............100% perfect. There are certainly two accepted strains of
Rams......maybe 3........maybe more......there is the wild.....there is the
gold......there is the German Blue.................those are accepted by the
apisto world. I think as long as you are up front with people you can spawn
what you like.......now with that said if you find the young are infertile
you probably should dump them......if the young are malformed you should
probably dump them.......but if they are a new beautiful strain why can't
you call it the "Jones" strain of aggies????????????? What is of utmost
importance is that you are up front with everyone as to where the fish came
through. The ethics of the people involved are really what is at question
question.

I know this is a bit contrary to what people might think but then why is the
Huser aggie so successful and how was it produced?????? Why do people
accept the Huser and all of the forms of Rams and say that others can't
repeat the effort? This is a very difficult topic to deal with but
folks.........none of our fish are going back into the
wild................none..................why can't we have fun as long as
we are honest? I have not done this yet because I simply don't have the
time and tanks to follow through a real program of setting a new color form
by crossing and repeating it to the point of it becoming "set".....and I
love to deal with the wild fish....but why not as long as we are honest
about the fish!

I will probably get some static for this but lets talk about it and not
throw bombs......I'm willing to listen........I've been "talking" this
argument with killie people for 30 years.......we should be able to talk
about it also without getting mad!

Mike W. .......do you know the history of the Huser aggie.....maybe we could
start there?
