I can understand that there may be cross-contamination between plant species from fungi but I seriously doubt that this would be likely between a plant that doesn't occur in the tropics and an animal that does. I feel much the more likely is some unexpected toxin. If nobody has any justifiable reason for not trying, maybe I'll put them in a tank where I have very frequent water changes (some of my tanks are running 50%daily at the moment!)
