I'll try and get some photos tomorrow (they'll be asleep now). I have had Rupununi before and there was the clear diference in the position of the lateral spot. The ones I have at present clearly have this spot on the lateral line. The ones I had before, the spot was above it.
But to be quite honest IDs have never been my strongest point, so no, I'm not sure. Just going on what I've been told. The Rupununis also had a very attractive blue sheen whereas the Steindachneri are more golden (I know that colours are not the best means of ID). Sexual differentiation was also much more obvious on what I took to be Rupununi as there was a much greater variation in size.
