Theoretically that's true, but both C. regani and C. Nothophthalmus are ambush feeders, which gives smaller fish a chance. You could say that any fish that will fit into any other fish's mouth is fair game and you wouldn't be far wrong. Neither C. regani nor C. Nothophthalmus has a large mouth and IME they won't go for anything other than fry. In this case I'd even go so far as to say that Apisto fry are reasonably safe, having had C. regani parents protect their young against a C.regani male. Obviously not all survived, but there was a seriously beaten up C. regani male at the end of it (he did durvive!)
