My experience has been very different from others. Back in 1979, when any Krib other than Pv. pulcher was extremely rare, I had 7 Pv. 'taeniatus' Moliwe fry grow out to be 6 females & 1 male. The male paired off with a female & they started digging a cave under a piece of slate-like rock (fissile basalt). This digging seems to stimulate the breeding urge somehow. One day I went to check their tank & found the piece of rock had settled deeper in the sand. It didn't have any supports under it, other than the sand it was laying on. I couldn't find my male anywhere ... until I lifted the slab. There he was - crushed & dying. He had undermined the slab. I had the females for 3 more years & never
could find a male for them. I strongly suggest that you put supports under any slabs so this doesn't happen to you!
