I have read all the books, but am interested in comparing real life with the books. What size tank, what tankmates, water parameters? Hardness? What caves or plants do you have? And most importantly have you removed the fry to another tank? If so what are you feeding the parents and fry? I am debating whether to feed the fry live brine nauppli ir frozen Hikari nauppli. I don't know if they will eat frozen though. In regards to your questions. I can help you out a bit. If you want higher fry loads then your water must be very soft. between 2-5 ppm general hardness and a carbonate hardness of 2-3 will produce 50-80 eggs. You are right that your fish are a bit small to lay laarge broods like that, wait till they are about 2 inchs, like mine are and they will lay largeer broods. Also, during first spawnings cacautoid parents usually eat most of their brood. But by the third or fourth time usually become good parents. Well, hope this helps, please share your experiences with me, I am interested in trading breeding iformation with someone. Gord.
