I just shake up a can of flake.  The static electricity that the plastic 
tops seem to generate from the friction hold a very fine powder. I just 
smudge it off with a finger and rub my fingers together over the 
tank--might not be a good idea to use anti-bacterial soap on your hands 
just priot to doing this.
