My usual practice is to wait a week or so after I notice a female holding eggs, then transfer her to a bare 10 with a flowerpot hiding place. She'll let them go in her own good time (depends mostly on temp, I think), and the moms have never shown any inclination to then eat the brood, even if she hasn't been fed for a few weeks. I sure wish I were as successful with apistos as with mouthbrooders. :-( Rusty
