Tom, The last time I cheched P. Auratus was not a dwarf cichlid but what the heck...Don't worry about getting "Malawi Lake Salt" I keep a community tank of Rift lake cichlids from tankganyika and Malawi. For substrate I use "Crushed Coral" the coarse type and add plain old aquarium salt to my tank with every partial water change. So far this has worked quite well and I have had two species of fish pair up and breed in these conditions.
