Yes. Include some small gravel (or inert sand) in your tank
as the fish like to dig a little inside the pot.

Red clay (terra cotta) are best. I like to use 4" saucers
which are used for standing pots on. You can also use
small pots (3" rim) and instead of the notch out of the rim
you can increase the size of the drainage hole on the
bottom for the fish to enter.

It is not worth the effort.
