I've kept MacMasteri with adult wild green discus successfully. By
successfully, I mean that all the MacMasteri survived and grew to adult
size. I never detected a spawn, although I never actually looked for
it. I'd be skeptical that any apisto can defend it's brood against
grown discus because of the size disparity between apistos and discus.
If you're going to keep apistos with discus, you should probably go with
the larger varieties like MacMasteri or rotpunkt. Borelli reach a much
smaller adult size than the MacMasteri.
