I don't know if anyone else has seen this or it was just the male I had. My female cared for the 'kid's for the first 2 weeks and then let the male pitch in and help. They had several batches and I didn't have any problems with the male going after the female. Hopefully your female will decided to come out of the corner when it is time to respawn. I, myself, would remove the male and let the female get back to caring for her young.
