I only have one tank set up now, and I :have three species of dwarves in it. I knew that I needed to get more tanks :going, just for what I have now, but after today, I think I may spend all day :tomorrow setting up tanks. : The defining moment behind this new found incentive was a trip to our LFS, :named, most appropriately, The Fish Store. They are probably the most :reliable source for Apisto.'s that I have found here in Seattle, but that is :not necessarily saying a lot. What I found today was tank after tank of :Apisto.'s and nice looking ones at that. There was ( and pardon the spelling) :borelli, of course, but also caucatuoides (red and double red) Macmasteri, :norberti, "breitbeinden". pandurini, and several others I cannot put a name :to now, as well as wild caught M. ramerizi and a few other goodies. Perhaps :even more amazing, the prices on most of them were quite reasonable-none of :this $25-$30 a piece outrageousness that I have seen there in the past. All :together there must have been 8 or so Apisto.'s and 4 or 5 other dwarf types. :When I commented to the clerk about the bounty, he commented that most of them :were from local breeders. I don't know who you are out there in Seattle, but :keep up the good work. Not only was the selection great, but they were :really nice looking fish! : One more thing. Does anyone know where I can buy sponge filters in the :Seattle area? I particularly would like the Tetra air driven ones, but the :ones designed for use with power heads might be OK for larger tanks. The :names of any reliable mail order (or internet-order) firms would also be good. : If whoever bred the "bretbeinden" ( or anyone else) could give me a quick :description of adult coloration (or a link to a photo on the web) and general :spawning/care information, I would appreciate it. :Again, kudos to the people supplying the store, and to the store for stocking :them and keeping the prices somewhat reasonable. : :Jeff :WndrKdnomo@aol.com : : :------------------------------------------------------------------------- :This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com. :For instructions on how to subscribe or unsubscribe or get help, :email apisto-request@majordomo.pobox.com. :Search http://altavista.digital.com for "Apistogramma Mailing List Archives"! : ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com.
