Another thought is to just use quilt batting under the gravel. you could use a double layer depending on the thickness you can get. I am trying that right now in a 45 gal high where I have an under gravel with a power head on one side and just gravel on the other. seems to be working. My .02. Because the UGF plate has slits in it. The sponge doesn't, and I've never seen a plant attach itself to a sponge filter. Not even Java fern or Java moss. And J. Moss can grow on just about anything. So humor me. I won't know until I try. Bob ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com.
