RE: Sponge material



Another thought is to just use quilt batting under the gravel. you could use
a double layer depending on the thickness you can get. I am trying that
right now in a 45 gal high where I have an under gravel with a power head on
one side and just gravel on the other. seems to be working. My .02.

Because the UGF plate has slits in it.  The sponge doesn't, and I've never
seen a plant attach itself to a sponge filter.  Not even Java fern or Java
moss.  And J. Moss can grow on just about anything.  So humor me.  I won't
know until I try.
